Sydney Day 9,10,, - Changing Gears

The title is misleading as we're not really in Sydney anymore, but I'll keep using it for consistancy.  Although I must also admit that the days have gotten away from me.  While we were in Sydney there were lots more activities - the kids played mini-golf, went to Ikea and visited a Dr Who shop. We also had bbqs all over town with friends which was really nice. And we even celebrated Fools Christmas - a christmas dinner tradition started well before anyone got kids.  Having it on January 3 was probably the furtherst it got from the traditional Christmas date, but it was still good!

Anyway - we're in Hardy's Bay now, so it feels like the pace has slowed and there's no rush to fit everything in.  The kids only have one goal each day, and that's to go bodyboarding - and so far they've achieved that so they are happy.

The rest of the time is spent on or near the deck of Shirl and Tim's lovely tree-house, reading, eating and scaring away the bush turkeys with slingshots.  

There are plenty of beaches within a few minutes drive from home (or walk if you are keen). We've been to three in two days already, not counting the extra two I walked past on a bushwalk.

Kilcare beach is great for boogieboarding..Yesterday Zali spent two straight hours in the water, stopping only when I lured her out with watermelon.

Then we went down to the other non-wave end of the beach, the end where we have photos of them when they were tiny (second from left in 2006, the set below is from 2008):

Whilst I was looking for that old photo I came across this text, from 2006, right before we moved to Tassie..

This weekend we spent a night up at Shirley and Tim's place in Hardys Bay. We've been up there a lot in the last few years but I guess that will be the last time for while. When we first started coming up we were child-free so we used to do lots of stuff - go to four beaches in one day (hey that sounds like a song title), lots of runs in the national park etc etc. Since Zali we couldn't do quite as much and now it feels like we do even less - this time Jett was very distressed at the beach (he doesn't like baths and I guess the sea looked like a REALLY big bath) so I didn't spend much time doing much at all. It was nice just hanging out at the shack but still... i'm looking forward to more fun at the beach with both children the next time we come since by then they will be a year older at least I would think.   

And voila - here we are back in that place I dreamed of once we had kids - the place where you can do heaps of stuff again, and doing it with the kids just makes it more fun.  Suffice to say Jett is no longer afraid of the water which is helpful!
