Euro Day 30 - Salzburg!

We arrived in Salzburg with next to no tourist plans, however this morning in the time between taking our mega box to the post office, and leaving the house 30 minutes later, Jon had cooked up the ultimate walking & bussing tour of Salzburg.   This was not a tour for the inexperienced or light hearted tourist as it included..(take a breath).. the information centre, Salzburg Fortress, the Modern Art Museum, St Peters Abbey, Salzburg Cathedral, Mozart's Birthplace, University Square, Mirabell Palace & Gardens, Untersburg Cable Car and finally Hellbrunn Palace & gardens.   This is what his list looked like at the end of the day. You might notice Salzburg Cathedral didn't get crossed off due to a mutiny by Zali, Jett and I when we refused to let Jon go in as we trudged past it.

We set off around 10am and walked the 20 minutes into town to buy our Salzburg passes (which included entry to almost everything and public transport everywhere).   The walk was met with mixed enthusiasm but it was really pretty nice!

In the interests of finishing this blog post so I can continue getting organised for our early morning departure for Munich and our flight to Stockholm I'm just going to stick the best of the photos here.

Some of the trick fountains (see the water spurting from the reindeer horns) at Hellbrunn Palace. We got a guided tour of the trick fountains which resulted in almost the entire tour group getting soaked.  The original castle owner had a sense of humour apparently. 

So yeah, it was a big day! We stumbled off the final bus outside our apartment at 6.45pm.  We can't be accused of not seeing Salzburg!  It was a nice town that's for sure.
